Andromeda - OS X El Capitan - GTX-750 TI SC has been crunching for a couple hours now.
MANY Pending Units right now; 4 Valid Units. The Alternate NVIDIA, (Web), Driver seems to be running OK. Web Driver 346.03.05f02 was installed as per recommendations of the Hackintosh Community for ALL NVIDIA cards from 750 to 980 TI for El Capitan use. I also installed the NVIDIA CUDA 7.5.xx Driver.
Andromeda - El Capitan has received 4 AP Units in queue. It will be interesting to see how the Web Driver on El Capitan works with these.
I'm crunching 2 Units at a time, and all seems well. I just wish there were a Lunatics package available for MAC OS to try out.

You need to follow TBar's thread for Mac OS apps.
Not sure how well they will do with a Hackintosh

While there isn't a lunatics type installer, there are optimized apps out for testing...
http://www.arkayn.us/forum/index.php?topic=191.msg4411;topicseen#new
Just make sure you read th requirements and match the apps to your hardware. You'll likely see much better MB times using his Cuda app...

I've actually just read his Thread from start to current over the past couple days. The work is intriguing and I hope proves fruitful. Perhaps after the appropriate shakedown of his app at Beta and here it could be incorporated into a future release of Lunatics for MAC... (Maybe...) :-)

Thanks for that link, Chris. I just read through TBar's posts there.
I'm not sure I'm ready to commit my new system to Alpha testing. If/when the App(s) are put to SETI Beta site, I'd be glad to have a go there.
I'm going to let the system run on Main for a day or so, and then switch over to Beta. MAC OS X El Capitan sees the following for Hardware:
About this MAC:
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache: 12 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05
SMC Version (system): 1.25f4
Actual Hardware is:
Core 2 Extreme, Quad Core QX9650 @ 3 GHz
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P MOBO Rev. 1.6 with Award v6.00PG BIOS Ver FD
8 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM - (2 GB x 4 sticks)
EVGA GeForce GTX-750 TI SC with 2 GB GDDR5
One WD Black 1 TB Hard Drive - Win 7 Pro x64
One WD Black 1 TB Hard Drive - OS X El Capitan
Clover Boot Loader and Manager
BOINC reflects the actual Hardware; but lists the computer as a MAC Pro 3,1 as reported by MAC OS.

So, what makes you think the Apps on main will work any better on a Hack? The Apps on main don't do very well with Real Macs, much less Hacks. The current Mac CPU App will not use any SIMD higher than SSE3. Mine use SSE 4.1 & AVX, and on many Macs are Twice as fast as the ones on Main. The current OpenCL nVidia App doesn't work very well at all on the LapTops giving about a 50% inconclusive rate and taking 2 to 4 times as long in the process. My CUDA Apps give maybe a 1% legitimate inconclusive rate on the laptops verses the 50% of the Apps on main.
The current OpenCL nVidia App does work better on the full sized cards, but is still about 30% slower than My CUDA 6.5 App. Petri's CUDA App I'm working on now is about 2 to 3 times as fast as the Current App on Main...and it's almost ready.
I would suggest the Cuda 65 App for your machine. Just place the Files in the setiathome.berkeley.edu folder, install BOINC again to correct the permissions, and it's done. Unless you want to edit the state file to set the new plan_class I suggest you finish the tasks you have first, or you will create Ghosts.

To put it lightly, the only thing you risk is having a higher RAC.;). Running stock for a few days though will let you fully appreciate the benefits of the optimized apps.

I never said that the Apps on Main will work any better on a Hackintosh. This is my first OS X system I've EVER had. This is a whole new experience for me.
I'm willing to be a guinea pig for the Hackintosh process; as I'm limited on funds, and CANNOT afford a REAL MAC Pro system. (I understand the latest MAC Pro is a 6,1; I don't even know when that came out, or if it is a current model...)
So far, I've gotten this thing to boot, recognize my hardware, and run its system pretty stable for a Hackintosh. I'm pretty proud of my efforts, as I knew NOTHING of Hackintosh before attempting this project. I consider this a GREAT accomplishment. :-)
As stated, TBar, I've read your Thread from start to current post and am AMAZED and in awe of your achievements. I just gathered that your App needed further testing in SETI Beta before going 'live'... Again, as I just got this system up, I didn't want to be an Alpha Tester for BOINC Apps. However; if, as you state, the App is ready for Prime Time, I'd consider installing it.
I just wanted to wait until the full green light hit and it was a full go...
[EDIT:]Also, I don't EVER crunch on CPU when I have an AWESOME GPU available. All current work in queue is for the GTX-750 TI SC. So SSE3, SSE4.1, AVX; they're all moot to me.
If your CUDA App works for GPU, then GREAT; when it is ready for Prime Time, I'm willing to install. Sign me up! :-)

I think there is another reason to wait on your apps TBar for him.
He shuts his computers down for certain amount of times during the day or night depending on Temps? That's correct TL?
He would need to reinstall most of the required portions of the apps each day when he restarts.
At least I know I have to do it if I completely turn off my mac, so I tend to leave suspended rather than starting again.

The only App that needs further testing is Petri's App, that's why you don't see it at C.A. The other Apps are about as close to perfect as you can get. That's why they are posted. They absolutely work better than the Apps on Main, in fact, the Top two Macs at SETI are using My Apps. It's not a coincidence.
...when it is ready for Prime Time...

coming from someone who just made a Hack, that's kinda funny ;-)
I'm thinking about changing one of my machines over, it would be nice to have a machine just to run new apps. Right now the only new App is the Petri App, the other CUDA Apps were posted on Jan 21st, the same day the GPU Apps were posted on Main. I can guarantee you, those CUDA Apps had more testing on them than the Apps that were posted on Main Jan 21st.

With TBar's new app, whenever BOINC is turned off, it deletes the libcudart.6.5.dylib & libcufft.6.5.dylib and forces me to place new copies in after I have to use the Boinc Installer.
So it becomes a pain to do it everytime I turn off the machine, so I just leave it on.

It appears you are still running the same version of BOINC you were back when I suggested you should change it. Did you ever try a different version? At least try the latest version, there is something wrong with that machine and it appears to be that BOINC isn't seeing the CUDA card.
These errors are Not normal and your machine is the only one I've seen respond that way; http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=4765026021

When BOINC deletes the libraries it's usually due to the app_info being wrong.
I had a case where the names of the libraries in the bottom entry didn't match those at the top and the behavior was similar, so, check the app_info file.

I did try updating BOINC but downgraded it again because there was issue I was having with the last version. I can't remember what it was but it annoyed me enough that it forced me to revert to a older BOINC manager.
I'll try it again, no promises
I think the error occurs when I have the preferences set to suspend GPU when computer is in use.
If I put it on full GPU all the times, that error goes away.
But this is my daily computer so I can't have it crunching all day

I don't actually shut down for temps; I shut down to save electricity. Dad pays the bill, NOT I... I crunch from 6 AM to 9 PM - Pacific. But, besides a full shut down; there would be times when I switch from MAC OS to Win 7, (soon to be Win 10 Pro), and that would in effect be shutting down the MAC side.
If I had the money, and had my way, I'd crunch 24/7; but I can't, so I don't.

I had the Exact same problem with boinc 7.4.42, it didn't correctly identify when the computer was in use. Others have had the same problem, that's why I use 7.4.36, it doesn't have that problem.
Check your app_info file for consistency. When BOINC deletes files it's usually due to a bad app_info...I've experienced that a few times too many.

Ahhh, maybe it is switching between the discrete and integrated GPU's, so sometimes it thinks there isn't a Cuda compatible device? I can see that happening, although have not expirenced it on my MacBook Pro, perhaps because I have an AMD discrete in mine, I dunno. If that's what's going on I'm not sure what the fix would be and its just a guess anyway...

When you say that you're thinking about changing over one of your machines; I'm assuming you mean that you'd create your own Hackintosh??? For someone with your expertise in coding/programming; you shouldn't have any issues getting a Hackintosh created. I'm sure you'd enjoy the challenge, and enjoy your creation when finished. :-)
As to installing your CUDA App; MAC OS doesn't recognize the 7z zip extension; I can't unzip the file!!! AND, since MAC OS CAN'T write to NTFS partitions, I can't move it to Win 7 from MAC OS... So, I'll have to re-download it tomorrow in Windows, Unzip with 7Zip and then go back to MAC and cut and paste from Win 7 Drive to MAC Drive... PAINFUL!!!!! Since these Apps are for MAC; may I suggest in future that a regular Zip Program be used? I went to 7Zip site, and it's ONLY for Windows...

I forget the name of the universal archival tool I use on Mac, but always handy tool to have on hand.
Typically 'advanced user' packages are not provided for general consumption, such as installers or stock would be, so there is always extra effort required. [and always will be...]
With reference to 7zip, and why its use is common in open source, here's what I post on my own site (Haven't posted a Mac app there yet, but will soon enough)
important notes:
- These builds are not intended for widespread production use, Advanced user testing preferred
- Documentation is incomplete for Linux and Mac builds (at 18th Feb 2016)
- They are supplied in a 7zip archive to save server space and your bandwidth. If you need a different form (e.g. don't have a suitable decompressor), then email me at contact at jgopt dot org for an alternative media via email
- Installation should be from a working anonymous platform (e.g. Lunatics Installer or manual app_info.xml)
...

No requests by email yet during entire v7 and inital v8 (though no Mac apps there yet of course ;) ].
'standard' zip is unlikely to be 'standard' for these simply because the compression ratio for the required libraries ( namely CUFFT ) is very poor under zip, and the libraries are particularly massive.
Doesn't matter so much for many users these days, however certainly matters for those on dialup. Naturally an installer is easier, but extra work few want to focus on[, especially for incomplete products]'Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. And unlike most advice, it's backed up by proofs.' -- Algorithms to live by: The computer science of human decisions.
